Transferring to a New Fostering Agency: What You Need to Know
As a foster carer you are self-employed and have the right to choose which agency holds your registration and approval.
Should you make the decision to transfer to Three Circles, there is a nationally agreed protocol that ensures a smooth and well-structured process.
Whether moving between independent agencies or from a council to an independent fostering provider, this protocol guarantees that all correct procedures are followed, always prioritising the best interests of the children in your care.
Children Stay with Their Carers.
One of the most important assurances within the protocol is that children living with foster carers will not lose their homes if their carer(s) decide to move agencies. The child or children placed with them move with them. This ensures stability and security, ensuring there is no disruption to their lives.

Three Circles’ Commitment to You
Transferring to a new fostering agency typically takes between 4 and 5 months. You do not need to retake the three-day Skills to Foster course with us, or provide references.
Three Circles will access your fostering records, training history, and professional development records from your previous agency.
Your approval remains continuous, ensuring there are no gaps in your fostering status.
Deciding to Move
After discussing your potential move with us we will guide you through the process, and hold your hand at every stage.
When your assessment and other checks are complete Three Circle’s panel will recommend your approval, which will be signed off by our Agency Decision Maker.
Only after this occurs do you resign from your previous agency, ensuring a seamless move with no break in your fostering status.
At Three Circles our team will work alongside you to ensure your transition is as seamless and stress-free as possible.
We are here to provide the support, guidance, and benefits you deserve.
